About Gerry Hauser

Gerry Hauser, CEO of Hadar Diamonds, a private, family owned online diamond e-tailer of certified diamonds. He is also the founder of "Bucket of Diamonds," a new online diamond brokerage system and co-founder of the La Jolla Diamond Company. For over 34 years he has been known as an authority in the diamond industry and is widely recognized as a trusted consumer advocate.

Mr. Hauser is a sophisticated advisor and diamond investor who has been published in The Gem Market Reporter 1978 and 1979, Precious Stones Newsletter in 1978. While the United States was experiencing raging inflation fears in 1979, he turned his attention to marketing GIA certified, high quality investment diamonds to hard asset investors hedge against inflation. From there, Mr. Hauser observed a demand for diamond brokerage services. This prompted him to co-found the La Jolla Diamond Company in 1976—a respected diamond supplier in La Jolla, CA that advised consumers on how to buy and sell diamonds for aesthetic and investment purposes. In 2000, Gerry revisited the brokerage concept as demand for diamonds sky-rocketed, and still continues to, throughout the world. To assist serious buyers, he developed an exciting and innovative new system called "Bucket of Diamonds,"—an online small commission-based diamond brokerage service that allows the public to buy and sell as if they themselves were bona fide trade members.

Throughout the years, Mr. Hauser's extensive knowledge of the global diamond markets and trade has received much attention from the media. He has been quoted on several occasions by Howard Ruff in the Ruff Times publication from 1979-1988, interviewed on FNN Network (now CNBC), WTIC radio in Hartford, Conn; Rick Barber, KOA Talk Radio in Denver, Col., and in 1988 was featured in Nuestra Joya, the largest jewelry trade publication in Latin and South America, to share his knowledge with consumers and investors alike. As current economic conditions have brought the topic of diamonds for investment back to the table, Mr. Hauser has been compiling data to help investors learn about the benefits of tangible assets and portable wealth, namely high-quality diamonds. He will be releasing a book, "Investment Diamonds—Portable & Liquid." The book will discuss, among other facts, history of rising diamond prices. The book is scheduled for release in Fall of 2012. Early copies will be available upon request, on a first come, first serve basis.

Personal information

While attending New York University's Creative Art and Advertising Design program in 1960, Hauser was recruited by his two uncles, both diamond cutters, to work as a diamond runner for the Montrose Diamond Company during that summer. Hauser states: “It was in this position that I learned a “deal-is-a-deal”. Here he also quickly learned that successful businessmen live by a code where a man's "word" is the most important ingredient if one wishes to have longevity in the diamonds trade. As a diamond runner, Gerry facilitated diamond orders and transported finished / cut diamonds to buyers on 47th Street—the heart of New York’s Diamond District. He rapidly developed an uncanny knowledge of diamonds and sincere appreciation for nature's most brilliant creation. Little did he know that this early foundation would pave the way for a remarkable career in the diamond trade.

After graduating with honors from NYU, Gerry worked for Advertising Techniques, a boutique agency on New York's famous Madison Avenue. He became one of the first "Mad Men" of the time and designed the Sweet & Low sugar bag, the first ladies rain hat, Shop Rite logo, Janzen plastic sweater bags, and Puerto Rico's La Concha Hotel logo, along with spear-heading the hotel's advertising campaign.

12 years later, the same Montrose Diamond Company convinced Gerry to return to a career in the diamond trade, with the intention of bringing a piece of New York's Diamond District to the West Coast—a flourishing new market for diamond buyers. He blazed a trail in the new Southern California market where he negotiated large buys to department stores serving the Japanese market.

Over time, Hauser has since discovered that his true passion is working with diamonds and the people who appreciate the beauty of this most precious of stones. Gerry states that , "The most memorable and satisfying moments of delivering loose diamonds and jewelry to customers is seeing their eyes light up as bright as the diamond itself."

Mr. Hauser continues to offer his wisdom to all customers, from the first-time buyer to celebrities and international figures. Although H.D carries a large inventory of diamonds and proprietary designs, H.D is often commissioned by high-profile buyers to design their diamond jewelry.

Gerry believes knowledge and communication is key when advising his clients on diamond purchases and diamond investing. Therefore, he makes himself accessible for all serious inquiries. To communicate with Gerry directly, you may email him at bestprice@hadardiamonds.com or call 800-295-6676.
