Only superior grade, Type 2 a, TLB and TTLB diamonds are candidates for HPHT. These diamonds must have clarity grades of FL-VVS2 (the highest clarities available).
Diamonds that belong to this category show very few internal blemishes, which in short, means they are high quality and rare. The HPHT process is applied to adjust its color, in many cases, from a champagne colored diamond to a permanent white or colorless diamond.

Because the original color was not white, you pay less per carat. Another example is a 3 carat diamond versus the price of a 1.80 carat with similar characteristics.
You Want Stunning, Top-Tier Grades
GIA Certified Natural HPHT diamonds tend to have the most desirable characteristics in a diamond; top color from D-H, and top clarity ranging from VVS2 to Flawless.
