Certified Diamond Engagement Rings
Selecting the right certified diamond engagement ring can seem like an overwhelming task, particularly if you aren't very familiar with jewelry, gems, or stones in the first place. At Hadar, we understand just how important it is to find the ring that expresses your emotions and conveys the right message during this special time.
The truth is, while there are many beautiful gems and types of engagement rings available, not all of these stones and pieces are certified. Certified diamond engagement rings, jewelry, gems, and stones from Hadar meet the standards set by the EGL (European Gemological Laboratory) or the GIA (Gemological Institute Of America) In order to receive this distinction, the items must meet certain grading standards set forth by each individual institution.
The 4 C's
You may have heard of the 4 C's by which all diamonds are judged. These are:
Cut: This is often applied to describe the shape that the stone has been cut into in order to best reflect the light. (this is what makes them sparkle)
Color: Color grades range from colorless to canary yellow. The less yellow it contains, the more valuable it is.
Clarity: Clarity is measured by the number of inclusions, or imperfections found on an individual stone. Many inclusions are too small to see with the naked eye and must be viewed through a jeweler's loop. Gems that are certified will have undergone a rigorous inspection process and will have any inclusions listed.
Carat: This is the measurement of the weight of an individual gem. While more carats usually equal a higher price, you should keep in mind that bigger is not always better. A stone with a greater carat weight that is poorly cut, for example, may not be as valuable or as beautiful as more skillfully cut smaller one .
