GIA Certified Diamonds

When it comes to buying GIA certified diamonds online, we offer our customers the assurance and guarantee that the gems they choose meet the high standards of the Gemological Institute of America. Founded in 1931, the GIA is one of the leading authorities on gems and other precious stones and is responsible for developing the 4C system of rating and grading stones. This system is widely used by other gemological institutes, diamond buyers, and sellers all over the world to establish an internationally recognized standard for diamond evaluation.

In addition to ratings on the 4C's (cut, color, clarity, and carat), the GIA will also assign a numerical grade and letter value establishing a specific clarity and color. A new “Cut” category is now included on all GIA reports. This is based on several aspects pertaining to value. They include all of the diamonds proportions, depth, table percentages, crown and pavilion angles.(Ask your Hadar Diamond representative to explain.)

For example, GIA certified diamonds are graded for color using a color corrected fluorescent light and a color comparison set. Your diamond’s color is compared to others until a color match is found. Diamonds with the rating of a D are virtually colorless, while a Z rating means that the diamond is a muddy yellow, and not as valuable. It should be pointed out, however, that beautiful, sparkling, colored ones do exist. They can be red, pink, blue, and even green. The more intense ones are extremely rare and very valuable.

Once a stone has been completely analyzed, a numbered certificate is created. This certificate contains the rating information and explains the evaluation criteria and how the grader reviews each particular stone to the buyer
